Now, college girl raped in city

Yet in another shocking incident, a college girl was raped in the city's Mirpur area Saturday. Police, however, arrested three youths in connection with the incident, but the rapist went into hiding. Quoting the victim, a first year (honours) student of City College, police said one of her friends, Sabbir, took her to a house at West Shewrapara in the morning. One Shawon allegedly raped the girl at the house while another youth identified as Wahidur Rahman Rocky took video footage of it, assistant sub-inspector Zahid of Mirpur Police Station said, adding that the incident took place between 9am and 9:30am.
As the girl lodged a complaint to the police station in this regard in the afternoon, the law enforcers swung into actions arresting three youths –– Newaj Sharif, 22, Sohel, 32, and Rocky -- from West Shewrapara, said sub-inspector Kamal Hossain who led the raid.
He said they could not arrest Shawon and victim’s friend Sabbir as they went into hiding after the incident. Newaz Sharif demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video footage on the internet while Sohel, house owner, helped Shawon commit the crime, the SI added, according to a news agency.
