PATUAKHALI, July 22: Five students of a high school at a remote village under Baufal Upazila in the district became sick in the classroom.
The sick students were identified as Jewel Gazi, Afsana Alam, Farzana, Sania and Liza, all of class seven in Ayla High School under the Upazila.
Of them Liza got admitted to Baufal Upazila Health Complex and others released after first aid.
Upazila administration and Baufal health complex sources said, at about 10:00 am Jewel Gazi became sick in the class room. Later on others became sick within an hour.
School authorities informed Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Baufal thana Officer-in-Charge and they rushed to the school. They brought the sick students to the Upazila Health Complex.
Medical Officer of Health Complex Md Masud told the correspondent the students of the school were stricken by an unidentified disease.
School authorities declared the school closed for three days.
