Now rods fall on car at city BRT site

Another private car narrowly escaped an accident at the BRT project site in the city's Uttara area on Friday only five days after the fatal accident that took lives of five members of a family.
Sources said the accident occurred when a rod fell on a car while it was crossing the project's underconstruction elevated part in the afternoon.
Bus Rapid Transit Company Managing Director M Shafiqul Islam admitted occurrence of such an accident and said there was no injury except damage to the car.
When asked about the decision regarding suspension of work until safety measures were taken after the August 15 tragic accident, he told the FE that safety fencing work was going on.
Expressing ignorance about the spot where the accident took place, the MD, however, told the FE that the accident occurred in the part of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority which is responsible for building the 4.0 km elevated road and the eight-lane Tongi bridge from Azampur to College Gate.
