NPP Chairman Shawkat Hossain Nilu calls on PM

Chairman of a faction of National Peoples' Party (NPP) Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Ganabhaban residence on Monday evening. Shawkat Hossain Nilu arrived at Ganabhaban at 8:00pm and invited the Prime Minister to attend the founding anniversary programme of his party, PM's Assistant Press Secretary Noor-e-Elahi Mina said. The NPP, headed by Nilu, was a component of the BNP-led 20-party alliance but later he announced formation of a new political platform, National Democratic Front (NDF), following expulsion of Nilu from the Khaleda Zia-led 20-party alliance after he joined an Iftar party at the Ganabhaban hosted by Sheikh Hasina in July this year. Another faction of NPP still remains with the 20-party coalition, according to a news agency.
