UK-Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI), a new business platform of most successful Non Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), plans to develop entrepreneurship among the youth in Bangladesh and the UK.
"We'll develop entrepreneurship targeting youths in Bangladesh and NRBs in the UK. UKBCCI aims to encourage NRBs towards investment in Bangladesh's prospective sectors," Bajloor Rashid, president of the UKBCCI, told BSS Friday.
In an interview, Bajloor said, "Our efforts would be on to bring here the hard-earn money of NRBs who look to invest in financial, health, education, food processing and tourism sectors.
Bajloor, former president of the UK-based Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA), said the UKBCCI will hold road show in the UK to encourage the NRBs.
"This is all about our plan for branding Bangladesh," he said.
He said, "We will promote Bangladesh in the UK saying Bangladesh's business environment has now changed...there is no more bureaucracy in the country and any foreigner can get any kind of help whenever required".
"We the UKBCCI leaders want to act as ambassadors to this end in the UK," said UKBCCI president.
For the first time, he said, the business body is going to include students as members of the business body.
"We will impart training to Bangladeshi BBA and MBA students who are interested to be entrepreneurs," he said.
There is a trade gap between the UK and Bangladesh, he said adding that special emphasis would be given on awareness building to give impetus to the two-way trade.
Referring to the meeting with British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert W Gibson, Bajloor said the high commissioner will love to work with the UKBCCI for UK-Bangladesh bridge building.
Setting up of cuisine training institute could open up a new avenue for overseas jobs for Bangladeshis. The jobs offer handsome salaries for young people of Bangladesh. The curry industry in Britain has a shortage of around 15,000 skilled chefs and managers.
