The National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) under the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is going to formulate a national action plan for the development of skills in the country.
For this, it engaged PwC Bangladesh under an agreement signed at NSDA office on Wednesday.
In the presence of NSDA executive chairman Md Faruque Hossain, the agreement was signed between NSDA member (admin and finance) Pijush Kanti Nath and PwC Bangladesh managing partner Mamun Rashid.
PwC will work with NSDA to formulate the plan in developing skills, up-skilling and re-skilling in the country, according to a press release.
The action plan will act as a framework for the government of Bangladesh to achieve its target of developing 15 million skilled workers by the year 2023.
Mr Hossain said, "A skilled and industry ready workforce will play a pivotal role in the overall economic development of Bangladesh. With the ever-evolving business ecosystem and global megatrends shaping the world of work today, we're committed to enabling our youth with necessary skills."
"NSDA coordinates, facilitates, monitors and certifies the skills of trained persons in junior, mid and managerial levels, which will be covered in the action plan."
As a part of the engagement, PwC will work with NSDA to collaborate with 23 different ministries, private sector providers and NGOs involved with skills development.
It will also review the existing skills development framework, conduct workshops, engage via focused group discussions and develop a strategic roadmap for the country's skill development initiatives.
Mamun Rashid said, "We are excited to be a part of nation building activities. This gives us a great opportunity to deliver our efforts of making a difference in the society and solving important problems. This initiative will be a milestone project, which will help our youths turn into an efficient workforce and create a stable society and make our country-future ready."
