NSU champion of real-life business case solving competition

North South University (NSU) became champion of the Battle of Minds 09- the real-life business case solving competition organized by British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) that was held in the city Monday.
American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has become the first and the second runners up respectively.
A total of 186 participants coming from 12 universities across the country participated in this year's event which involved business case idea generation, market visit, research and presentation; while six teams out of them advanced to the grand finale stage.
Ahsan H Mansur, Executive Director of Policy Research Institute, attended the event as the chief guest. Chairman of BAT Bangladesh Golam Mainuddin and Managing Director of BAT Bangladesh Alan Davy were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan H Mansur said, "Against the backdrop of a growing economy and an rapidly developing corporate culture in Bangladesh, this is important to bridge the university education with the practical work field to nurture world class entrepreneurs in the country".

"This flagship event of BATB, aimed at developing young graduates for professional life is now replicated in other BAT companies in South Korea, Malaysia and Pakistan", Managing Director of BAT Bangladesh Alan Davy said.

Syed Imtiaz Faruque, Head of HR, BAT Bangladesh also spoke on the occasion.

Since its inception in 2004, Battle of Minds has gradually emerged as the most prestigious competition for the university level students in the country. According to organizers, 37 individuals who participated in the competition are working in BATB in different managerial positions.

This year's Battle of Minds competition spanned over a period of one month. The other teams that made to the finals were from Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of University of Dhaka, East West University and Chittagong University.
