Ntv (National Television) and Rtv (Rose television) have shut their transmission temporarily amid fire at a 11-storied building in Karwan Bazar housing the two private TV stations. The televisions show 'no signal'. 'We came out of the building amid smoke,' Ntv Chief News Editor Zahirul Alam said. A newsman at the Rtv newsroom, Saifuddin Mohammad Minhaj, also confirmed the temporary closure. Ntv is housed at the sixth floor while Rtv is on the fifth floor of the building owned by Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC). No report of any casualty has come in so far. The earth-stations of the two TV channels are placed on the building rooftop. The fire broke out at the top floor of the building. Primary reports say the fire started at the Amar Desh newspaper office, which only runs an online version after it lost its printing permission. A reporter of the newspaper said their office was being shifted, according to bdnews24.com.
