NU students, teachers demand end to turmoil
FE Report | Sunday, 15 March 2015
National University (NU) students and teachers formed human chains across the country Saturday demanding an immediate end to the ongoing political turmoil that has heavily taken its toll on the education sector.
The country's largest chain university arranged the peaceful demonstration across all its affiliated colleges and at the main administrative campus at Gazipur.
To realise a set of demands, the BNP-Jamaat alliance has been observing a nationwide non-stop blockade coupled with frequent general strikes since January 6 this year.
NU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Harun-or-Rashid led the central programme on the Gazipur campus, where its teachers and administrative officials took part in it.
The university is the worst sufferer of the ongoing political movement, putting its 2.0 million students' academic lives into uncertainty as it cannot take class and examinations due to the protest programmes.
