NU submits Tk 1.6b project for research, development

GAZIPUR, Apr 23 (BSS): National University (NU) submitted a project to the government involving Tk 1.60 billion (160 crore) for research and development.
Director (In-charge) of NU Faizul Karim said that an announcement to this effect was formally made at a discussion on 'Quality books and libraries for flourishing higher education' on the NU campus here Thursday.
NU Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Tofael Ahmed Chowdhury, Treasurer Kazi Faruq Ahmed and Dean Dr SM Abu Raihan, among others, spoke on the occasion with Pro-VC Prof Dr M Abu Syed Khan of the university in the chair.
National University as part of the project will take initiatives to set up rich libraries in six divisional cities soon. It will also resume the activities of Bangladesh Research Institute (BRI) including research on War of Liberation and Bangaba-ndhu.
Under the BRI, research centres will be set up in 64 districts to collect data on the War of Liberation.
NU will also take steps to provide necessary assistance in publishing research and quality books for the teachers of its affiliated colleges.
The speakers said that NU was continuing training for the college teachers side by side with introducing M Phil and Ph D degrees for them.
