NUB urged to equip students with advanced knowledge

Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) conferred degrees on a total of 1,283 graduates of different disciplines at its second convocation ceremony at the city's Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre Wednesday.
Primary and Mass Communication Adviser Rasheda K Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest on behalf of President and NUB Chancellor Iajuddin Ahmed, while former Chief Justice and Chief Adviser Latifur Rahman was the convocation speaker.
NUB vice-chancellor M Shamsul Haque presided over the ceremony and Executive Secretary of International Business, Agriculture and Technology (IBAT) Trust M Abu Bakar Siddique made the welcome address.
Addressing the convocation, Rasheda K Chowdhury said the key function of a university was to bring together young men and women irrespective of any disparity and build up them as human capital for the country.
Terming the character building as a vital task of all education, Latifur Rahman in his convocation speech urged the universities to equip students with the advancement of knowledge to create proficient leaders and patriotic citizens who could lead the country towards prosperity in the days to come.
Three students were awarded 'VC gold medal' at the convocation for their excellent results in honours and masters examinations.
