Nuclear power plant by Bashundhara!
Sunday, 1 May 2011
The Bashundhara Group is planning to set up a Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh.
As a keen enthusiast of power generation, I would request you to kindly give more details on the modality of the nuclear reactor that will be set up for this power plant. Given the size of it being 50MW; I believe it will be a 'Pebble Bed Reactor' using U-238 based nuclear fuel in the form of hard ceramic balls. If this is so; then radiation leakage, and containment should not be a problem. It will also not need any isolation or mandatory safety zones! For many years I have been propagating the setting up of this type of Nuclear power plant on many occasions. As early as December 2007, I wrote about it in "Energy & Power" the only publication on power sector in Bangladesh. When this plant is commissioned; it will be a dream come true, for this individual at least.
