Tuesday, 6 May 2014

Narayanganj district administration has revoked the licences of all 11 weapons belonging to Nur Hossain and his companions. The Narayanganj Awami League leader is among the prime suspects in the abduction and murder of Councillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and five other leaders and workers of the local Awami League. Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman Mia has said that police had been asked to seize the arms immediately. On Saturday, police raided Nur Hossain’s home, detaining 12 men and seizing a microbus. They could not find Nur Hossain though. Nur Hossain and his associates obtained licences for 11 firearms in the past two years. Nazrul's father-in-law Shahidul Islam listed them for the media on Saturday. According to list, the weapons include seven shotguns, two pistols, a rifle and a revolver. The rifle and a shotgun was licenced in 2012 and the rest in 2013, according to bdnews24.com.
