Nur-e-Alam Siddique passes away

Nur-e-Alam Siddique, who served as convener of Swadhin Bangla Kendriya Chhatra Sangram Parishad during the mass upsurge of 1969 and the War of Liberation in 1971 has passed away. He was 79, reports UNB.
He was a Member of Parliament and former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (1970-1972).
He died at 4:37 am Wednesday, confirmed his press secretary Aniket Rajesh.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and other cabinet members expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Nur-e-Alam Siddique.
In separate condolence messages, they prayed for the departed soul and expressed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
In her condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "The contribution of this brave son of the nation to the establishment of independent Bangladesh will forever be remembered with reverence by the next generations."
Siddique was one of the organisers of independence, also known as one of the four prominent student leaders who the mass movement of 1969. He was one of the leaders of Mujib Bahini.
Siddique played an active role in all the political activities of the time, including participation in the six-point movement, the 11-point movement, and the language movement.
