A Narayanganj court has sentenced Nur Hossain, the prime accused in Narayanganj 7-murder case, to 1 year's imprisonment in a case filed under Wildlife Preservation (Amendment) Act. Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam passed the order on Tuesday in absence of Nur Hossain, the ex-councillor of Ward-4 of Narayanganj City Corporation. Nur is now in a Kolkata jail on charge of trespass and illegally possessing firearms. Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam also fined him Tk 50,000 and an additional three months in jail if fails to pay the fine. Court sources said, at least 41 species of wild animals including several exotic and rare birds were seized during a raid at Nur's house at Shimrail in Narayanganj on May 15. Police had seized all movable properties owned by Nur following a court order after he fled to India a few days after the 7 murders on April 27, according to a news agency.
