Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the Narayanganj abduction case, was under surveillance, but went into hiding at one stage, State Minister for Home Assaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Sunday.
“Nur Hossain and his close relatives had been under the watch of the law-enforcing agencies, but he went into hiding at one stage…the law enforcers are trying to hunt him down,” he told reporters after a meeting on river route security, according to a news agency.
Nur Hossian, a Narayanganj city Awami League leader and also a councilor, is the prime accused in the case filed in connection with the abduction and killing of city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates.
He said action will be taken against members of the law-enforcing agencies if they are found involved in the abductions.
Asked whether he himself was concerned about the repeated incidents of abduction in the country, especially in Narayanganj, Asaduzzaman said, “There’s nothing to be worried as the members of law-enforcing agencies have been working on it.”
