Nur Hossain\\\'s illegal shops evicted

Authorities have started evicting the illegal shacks on the banks of Shitalakkha River, used by fugitive Narayanganj City Councillor Nur Hossain for his sand business. The numerous tin-roofed shacks, more than 50, belong to the councillor, his brother Joj Miah and their business partners who used them for selling sand and stones. Alamgir Kabir, deputy director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Narayanganj terminal, said all these shacks will be evicted in the drive that began on Tuesday morning. Ward-4 Councillor Nur Hossain is the prime accused in the abduction and murder of Ward No 2 Councillor and Narayanganj City Corporation’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam, eminent lawyer Chandan Sarker and six other people whose bodies were found floating on Shitalakkha River at Bandar Upazila on April 30. He is also the vice-president of Siddhirganj unit of Awami League, according to bdnews24.com.
