Nur Hossain’s aide Churchil on 5-day remand

A Narayanganj court on Saturday placed Mortuza Zaman alias Churchil, one of the associates of Nur Hossain, prime accused in the sensational seven-murder case, on a 5-day remand. Police produced Churchil, arrested early Friday from Faridpur district, before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Monwara Begum at noon seeking remand for him. The judge passed the order after hearing. Detective Branch of police arrested Churchil, son of late Moshiur Rahman, a resident of Faripur district town, from a remote char area under North Channel union in sadar upazila in the early hours of Friday. Local Awami League leader Nur Hossian, also Narayanganj city councilor, and his five associates have remained absconding following the abduction and killing of seven people including city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker. The seven abducted by miscreants from the district around same time on April 27 were found floating in the Shitalakhya River a couple of days later, according to UNB.
