Nur Hossain’s aide held in Faridpur

Detective Branch of police arrested one of the aides of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in Narayanganj 7-murder case, from a remote char area under North Channel union in Faridpur Sadar upazila on Friday. The arrestee was identified Zamanur Rahman alias Charsil Zaman, son of late Moshiur Rahman of Faripur town. Faridpur DB police officer-in-charge Sunil Karmakar said being tipped off, they arrested Zamanur from his fater-in-law’s house in 38 Dag area of the union around 12:30am. Nur Hossian, the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC)’s Ward 4 Councilor, and his five associates remained absconding following the abduction and killing of NCC councilor and panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarker and five others in April. On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatulla area of the city. Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka. Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from Shitalakhya and Dhaleswari rivers on April 30. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from Dhaleswari River, according to UNB.
