Nur to be brought back: Asaduzzaman
Sunday, 15 June 2014
Bangladesh government has begun the process to bring back Nur Hossain, prime accused in Narayanganj 7-murder case, from West Bengal capital of Kolkata where he was arrested on Saturday night, state minister for home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Sunday. But the junior minister did not provide immediate details of process, though it is evident, Bangladesh would have to put in a formal request for extradition to India. Both countries now have an extradition treaty to facilitate repatriation of criminals and terrorists wanted in the other country. Bangladesh had sought the help of the Interpol on May 22 to nab Nur, but it had also informed India to check out reports that the fugitive had slipped into Kolkata. Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC)’s Ward No 4 councillor Nur was nabbed by a team from the Special Task Force of the West Bengal police from Baguiati, not far from Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, around 11:30pm on Saturday. A revolver was found on Nur along with two mobile phones during the arrest. He will be produced in a court in West Bengal’s North 24-Parganas district today (Sunday) and police will seek his remand to facilitate interrogation, according to bdnews24.com.
