NARAYANGANJ, May 29 (UNB): A court sent Thursday Narayanganj City Corporation female councillor Jannatul Ferdous Nila, said to be a 'girlfriend' of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the much-talked-about seven-murder case, to jail.
Judicial Magistrate Ishtiaque Ahmed passed the order when police produced her before his court on the expiry of her three-day remand in a youth murder case.
On Monday, a team of police arrested Nila from her Siddhirganj residence in connection with the killing of Jewel. She was placed on the three-day remand on the day.
The decapitated body of Jewel was recovered from Jalkuri area of Siddhirganj on October 26, 2013.
Police arrested four youths in connection with the killing. Two of them gave confessional statements before a local court where they described councillor Nila as the mastermind of the killing.
However, she had not been arrested as she was very close to Nur Hossain. Instead, the district police super transferred the investigation officer, sub-inspector Nazrul Islam, from Siddhirganj Police Station for collecting statements from the accused involving Nila.
Earlier, on May 18, detectives detained Nila for several hours and interrogated in connection with the killings of seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.
Meanwhile, another court Thursday placed Kamal Hossain, a shop employee of Nur Hossain, on a fresh three-day remand.
Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin passed the order when DB Inspector Mamunur Rashid, also the IO of the seven-murder case, produced him before his court with a remand prayer.
Earlier on May 17, Kamal was put on a three-day remand when he divulged important information, police said. He was arrested from Benapole in Jessore on May 15.
