Nursery business gaining popularity in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Mar 9: Nursery business is gaining popularity in the district with the number of private enterprises increasing in the urban and rural areas.

An unofficial source estimated that saplings of various trees worth over Tk 25 million are produced in the nurseries in a year.

About 350 nurseries have been set up in the district and over 12000 skilled and unskilled workers are engaged in raising nurseries in nine upazilas of the two districts.

The nurseries with blooming flowers like rose, tuberose, magnolia, jasmine, tulip, marigold and others catch the eyes of any passer by for a while surely he or she at the sight of these nurseries.

The nurseries produce fruit-bearing and wood trees as well as plants of coconut, mango, blackberry, jackfruit, lemon, lichi, star apple, olive, etc are on sale at these nurseries.

Most of the saplings are sent to Chittagong, Sylhet, Dhaka, Comilla and other district of the country round the year.
