Nursery business gains popularity in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Apr 24: Nursery business has changed the lot of many besides employing thousands of people of Rangpur district. The growth of nursery in the private sector has brought prosperity to the both urban and rural people in the region. This expanding private sector business has now become lucrative. Nurseries of different sizes have grown spreading over the entire district. According to sources, there are now around 500 nurseries in eight upazilas of Rangpur district. Md. Abdul Kader (62) owner of a nursery at Rangpur Sadar Upazila told the FE that he has been running business for 20 years. He earns Tk 10 million annually which is more than enough to maintain his family. He hopes to make double of his present income from his nursery. At present there are different kinds of fruits, herbal and flower plants in his nursery and he is now trying to expand his business. Another nursery owner Abul Kashem (50) at Taraganj upazila of Rangpur district said this business has brought a dramatic change in his life and that he has conquered poverty through this business. As the business is found profitable many people of the region are getting interested in it.
