SYLHET: Nurses at Osmani Medical College Hospital went on an indefinite work abstention Monday protesting the alleged assault on one of their fellows by some interns.
Sources said two interns-Tofail Ahmed and Jonny-locked into an altercation with Proloy, a male nurse, over bringing the prescriptions of the patients from a ward at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital around 12:30 am, according to a news agency.
At one stage of altercation Tofail, Jonny and some other interns beat up Proloy, leaving him injured. Four other nurses were also injured when they tried to save Proloy.
On information, the hospital authorities rescued Proloy and admitted him to the hospital.
Angered by the incident, the nurses went on a work abstention and staged demonstration demanding exemplary punishment of those involve in the attack.
