NZ qualify for 2016 world meet beating SL by 6 wkts

New Zealand women's team qualified for the 2016 ICC Women's World Twenty20 beating Sri Lanka women's team by 6 wickets in a Qualification play-off match of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 2014 at Sylhet Stadium Wednesday, reports UNB.
Replying to Sri Lanka's 131 runs, New Zealand reached their target making 135 runs for 5 wickets in 19 overs.
New Zealand lost their first wicket Sophie Devine (0) in the 5th ball of the very first over of the innings. But, in the 2nd wicket stand, skipper cum opener Suzie Bates partnering with Sara McGlashan repaired the early damage scoring 39 runs in 4.2 overs, taking the score to 40 for 2 in 5.1 overs.
Suzie Bates scored the team highest 45 runs off 31 balls with seven boundaries.
Middle order Rachel Priest made an unbeaten 42 runs off 32 balls with six fours and was adjudged player of the match.
Katie Perkins (28) and Sara McGlashan (13) were the other notable scorers for New Zealand.
Inoka Ranaweera, Shashikala Siriwardene, Udeshika Prabodhani and Oshadi Ranasinghe took one wicket each for 17, 19, 27 and 30 runs respectively.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka posted a moderate 131 runs for 7 in 20 overs with one down Chamari Atapattu contributing 46 runs off 44 balls that featured five fours before she was run out by Sara McGlashan.
Opener Yasoda Mendis added 45 runs off 35 balls with six fours and two sixes before being caught by Suzie Bates off a Felicity Leydon-Davis delivery.
Eshani Lokusuriyage (18) and Sripali Weerakkody (10) were the other double digit scorers for Sri Lanka.
Nicola Browne captured two wickets for 16 runs in her four overs spell while Suzie Bates, Felicity Leydon-Davis, Frances Mackay and Sophie Devine took one wicket each for 8, 24, 29 and 31 runs respectively.
