Observers from 9 countries confirm to monitor polls

Election observers from nine countries so far confirmed to visit Bangladesh to monitor the upcoming general election to be held on January 7, reports BSS.
This was revealed at the foreign ministry's weekly briefing conducted by its spokesperson Seheli Sabrin at the ministry here on Thursday.
Replying to a question, Sabrin said the nine countries are India, Sri Lanka, China, Russia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Georgia and Palestine.
Besides, she said OIC, commonwealth and Arab Parliament would also observe the elections.
Currently, a four-member EU expert panel is in Dhaka to observe the election.
The EU delegation is scheduled to leave the country on January 24.
