Obsession leads govt to killing spree: BNP

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said arresting and killing opposition leaders and activists have become an obsession of the government. 'It looks like killing opposition leaders and activists as well as detaining them have made the current illegal government addicted,’ he said in a statement. The BNP spokesman issued the statement condemning the killing of Mohammad Ali Member, president of Sandikona union BNP in Kendua upazila of Netrakona district. Ali was chopped to death by some unidentified miscreants in Khidirpur village in the upazila on Wednesday night. Mirza Alamgir, in his statement, alleged that the government has resorted to killings, forced disappearances, abductions and other repressive acts in a bid to perpetuate its power. He demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of Mohammad Ali, according to UNB.
