BARGUNA, July 6 (BSS): Ferry services on different routes of Barguna and Patuakhali, two important coastal districts of the country, have been disrupting since long due to old and obsolete ferries in operation.
In all, 10 ferries of 30-40 years old with technical glitches and cracks on bodies have been plying the routes of the districts causing untold sufferings to bus passengers and others.
People of the two districts have long been demanding introduction of modern ferries on the routes for a smooth transportation of buses, trucks and other vehicles.
During a visit to Lebukhali Ferry Terminal along the Paira River on Patuakhali-Barisal route and Amtali Ferry Terminal on Barguna-Patuakhali route this correspondent found workers removing water from ferries with pump machines.
