Occupied land of roads, highways to be recovered: Quader

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said Saturday that steps would be taken to recover the lands of roads and highways from illegal political occupation, reports UNB.
Lands that have been occupied for political reasons will be retrieved by the ministry, he said while addressing a views-exchange meeting with the engineers of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The minister said no leniency will be shown in recovering as much of the land as it will be needed for easing vehicular movement on roads.
He asked the RHD officials to remain alert to prevent all kinds of battery-driven vehicles plying roads.
Quader also called on the RHD engineers for the proper use of the vehicle-weighing machines for the maintenance of roads.
Roads Division Secretary MAN Siddique also spoke on the occasion.
