Offices, banks reopen after Eid vacation

Wednesday, 17 October 2007

After the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, government offices, banks and newspaper offices reopened Tuesday amidst festival fever, reports UNB.
Attendance in offices was remarkably thin as many officials and employees were enjoying one-day optional holiday.
Those who attended offices were seen exchanging Eid greetings and pleasantries with their colleagues.
People, who went to their village homes for celebrating Eid with their relations, particularly in southern districts, could not return due to rough weather.
The launch services in the country's southern region remained suspended.
Traffic in the city streets was also thin. Some small shops opened their shutters.
Rain and squally wind throughout the day disrupted normal life in the capital Tuesday.
