Officials leave for Tripura to bring back remains of Hamidur

COMILLA, Dec 7 (UNB): A seven-member delegation, led by joint secretary of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry Humayun Kabir Khan, left for the Indian Sate of Tripura Friday to bring back the remains of Liberation War hero Sepoy Hamidur Rahman. The other members of the delegation are first secretary of Bangladesh Embassy in Kolkata Mominul Haque, Wing Commander Yusuf, Lt Col (retd) Kazi Sazzad Ali Zahir, Major (retd) Kamrul Hasan Bhuiyan, Havilder Mehraj and Hamidur Rahman's brother Fazlur Rahman. They started their journey through Bibirbazar land port at 3:45pm. The remains of Sepoy Hamidur Rahman will be repatriated to Comilla from India by road on December 10 and be taken to Dhaka from Comilla Cantonment the following day.
Finally, he will be laid to eternal rest at the Mirpur Graveyard with the highest state honour.
Valiant freedom fighter Hamidur Rahman was buried at Ambasa in the Indian state after he embraced martyrdom during a front battle against the Pakistani occupation forces in a frontier area of Sylhet on October 28, 1971.
