Offsetting Reshmi's effects
Friday, 31 October 2008
It seems that the cyclone that crossed the country's coastal areas caused an enormous loss to our crops and property. Some people died and many more are missing. The cyclone originating from the Bay of Bengal as usual, crossed southern and southeastern Bangladesh early last Monday morning and caused the damage though it did not directly hit the country. Many fishermen are missing and hundreds of mud houses collapsed. Reports of crop losses are pouring in from different areas. It would take time to know the actual extent of damage.
The government has to go for rehabilitating the affected people as well as agriculture. As the effects of global recession is looming, the cyclone is causing an extra pain for us which the government must take into account seriously.
