Saturday, 20 June 2015

The two cars of a freight oil train that fell off a bridge in Chittagong on Friday, have been salvaged. Two relief trains went to the site in Benguira under Boalkhali upazila from the port city and Akhaurha, and pulled the two furnace oil-loaded tank cars out of the nanal on Saturday. Earlier, another locomotive from Chittagong removed four oil tank cars from the railway tracks approaching the bridge on Friday afternoon. “The relief trains started their work after the four tank cars were removed from the railway tracks,” an engineer of Bangladesh railway said. The railway bridge on the Boalkhali canal broke down on Friday morning when the oil train was passing the century old bridge. Assistant Executive Engineer Abdul Halim and Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer (Bridge-1) Akbar Ahmed Ferdous have been suspended over the incident. A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the accident, according to bdnews24.com.
