Old man stabbed dead in Sylhet

A sexagenarian man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbour over a trifling matter in Kuarpar area of Sylhet city on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Shamsul Islam, 60, a resident of the area. Quoting locals, police said Shamsul Islam and his neighbour Arju Miah locked in an altercation before Iftar over collecting water from a tube-well. As a sequel to this, Arju Miah along with his men attacked Shumsul and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons while he was returning home from local mosque after saying maghrib prayers, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead, according to UNB.
