Old woman, grand son killed in Khulna

An old woman and her eight-year-old grandson were killed in a road accident on Khulna-Jessore highway in Phultala upazila of Khulna district early Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Sakhina Begum, 55, wife of Shahjahan Sardar, of Bariar Dangi village of the upazila and the couple’s grandson Roman Mollah. Phultala Police Station officer-in-charge Elias Fakir said a bus knocked down pedestrians Shakina and her grandson near MM College around 5:00am, leaving them dead on the spot. Later, vehicles moved over their bodies at night as it could not be felt for the area being too dark and shrouded in dense fog. However, locals spotted the bodies in the morning and informed police. The bodies were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to UNB.
