CHITTAGONG, July 25: Two international airline agencies - Oman Airlines and Air Arabia - have obtained the government's permission to operate direct flights from Chittagong to Middle East.
Besides, the approval of flight operation by four other airlines is almost at the final stage, the Civil Aviation Authority sources said.
Among them, Emirates and British Airways are likely to get the government nod for using Chittagong Shah Amanat International airport by next month.
Another two airlines seeking permission to use the airport are Kuwait Airways and Malaysia Airlines, and their applications are also under process.
Millions of people of Chittagong region have been employed in different Middle-East countries since long. So far they had to depend on Biman Bangladesh and Thai Airways, as only these two airlines had direct communication with Chittagong.
