On being creative and independent

PARENTS and guardians, these days, often prefer to see their kids stand first in the exam. They sometimes are less concerned about their kids practicing moderation, being creative and independent minded.
They must realise that if their kids become creative and independent minded, and not just dependent on the teachers for prepared notes, they will enjoy their studies, will come out successfully in the exam—not necessarily they will stand first in the exam. From their training they would face challenging situations in life, cope with difficult conditions and ultimately they will succeed in whichever profession they choose.
Those who are creative and have good knowledge on the courses taught, are in a position to answer any difficult question in the exam hall. Those, on the contrary, with dependence on notes and having such attitude like ‘my- teacher- will- solve- the- problem’ often might be in difficult position in the exam hall and may not be able to answer the questions satisfactorily.
Excessive dependence on tutors often make students idle and dependent. When tutors solve a sum or a geometry problem, how will a student learn to solve sums or geometry on his or her own? They will only know how to imitate the teacher. And it can be said without doubt that the capability one will have from imitating will be very weak compared to the capability of thinking and producing on one’s own.
Becoming creative and independent is indeed a painful path-but parents and students must accept this and have patience, should utlise time and wait for the results. They must not be impatient for rewards. Rewards will come automatically.
If students can avoid the tendency of following the short-cut ways all the time, and try to study and solve problems on their own, they will surely succeed both in the short and long run of life. Whoever became successful in life had to pass through a difficult time-they thought on their own and worked very hard to do so.
Less dependence on tutors and coaching centres, avoiding guide books and spending enough time to study on one’s own can be helpful for one to be creative and independent. This will be a great habit in life.
