On providing multimedia to primary schools

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Though many schools in the country have no congenial academic atmosphere for various reasons, the government is planning to give multimedia projectors, laptops and other accessories related to the studies to schools. This is no doubt a laudable initiative, but it lacks practical and favourable situation. In each upazila, hardly one or two schools are suitable for use of multimedia.  In that consideration providing multimedia to all schools will be a huge loss of public money. Instead, multimedia can be provided to those schools that can properly use the facility. Other schools should get the equipment only after the construction of appropriate infrastructures there. Otherwise,  it will be like putting the cart before the horse.
