One billion rising campaign to start from Nepal

One Billion Rising Revolution, a global campaign on violence against women, will launch from Nepal on Sunday. One billion refers to the UN statistic that one in three women face physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Activists from all around the world will be participating in various programme on February 14, 2015. Many organisations in Nepal advocating women’s issues will be supporting the drive. Different events have been planned to mark the beginning of the campaign in Kathmandu. Ani Choying will be felicitated with the Meeto Memorial Award for her contribution. Likewise, the launch will also see the participation of Charlotte Bunch, founding director of Centre for Women’s Global Leadership, and Monique Wilson, the director for the One billion rising campaign, who is an award winning actress from the Philippines, according to ekantipur.com
