CHITTAGONG, Jun 22: A container-full fabrics imported from China for a garment industry had been plundered in the container yard of Chittagong port a few days back.
It was the first ever plundering of a major consignment of RMG raw materials in recent times although importers alleged that pilferage of goods had been a common feature in the port over the past one year.
Customs intelligence officials have been asked to investigate into the matter, officials said adding they are yet to find out clues to the missing of fabrics worth about Tk five million.
A senior customs official said a five-member committee has been constituted today (Tuesday) and they have been asked to report their findings within seven workdays.
