One dies as blasts, attacks continue
FE Report | Wednesday, 4 March 2015
A transport worker was burnt alive early on Tuesday in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj as the indefinite transport blockade crossed the 57th day on the day.
Alongside the ongoing blockade the BNP-led 20-party alliance has again extended its 72-hour hartal for another 48 hours till 6am Friday to press home their various demands, including a fresh election under a non-party administration.
Some eight vehicles were vandalised and torched on the day. Arrests and stray incidents of violence across the country were also reported.
Vehicular movement in the city was thin compared to the other hartal days. Police and other law enforcing agencies were vigilant on the streets.
However, the deceased transport worker was identified as Shipon, 35, a covered van driver, who hailed from Barisal. He was burnt alive as miscreants allegedly firebombed the vehicle in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early on Tuesday.
