One dies with measles-like symptoms, dengue claims two more lives

One more child died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until 8:0 am on Monday, according to the health authorities.
With the latest fatality, the total death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms rose to 758 since mid-March this year.
Of the total fatalities, 93 were confirmed as measles cases, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin.
Meanwhile, as many as 896 suspected and 113 confirmed measles infections were recorded in the past 24 hours.
With these, the total suspected measles infections climbed to 112,376 and confirmed infections rose to 13,613 since March 15 last, said DGHS.
In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated over 18.47 million children since April.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
Meanwhile, two more dengue patients died and 327 other patients were hospitalised in the past 24 hours, according to the DGHS.
With the latest daily count, the total dengue related deaths rose to 27 and the caseloads stood at 8,650 since January this year.
As many as 823 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country.
