One electrocuted in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Jun 15 (BSS): A youth was electrocuted in Biharpur area of Rangamati town on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Promith Chakma, 30, son of Shushantu Chakma of Biharpur.
Witnesses said Promith Chakma was seriously injured when he came in contact with a live electric wire while repairing a water-lifting pump at his house at about 3 pm yesterday.
Relatives rushed him to Rangamati General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Officer in Charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana, Monu Imtiaz confirmed the incident.
2 hurt in elephant attack
Another BSS report says: Two people were seriously injured when a group of wild elephants attacked them in Bangchari area under Kaptai upazila of Rangamati Saturday night.
The victims were identified as Mohammad Ali, 25, and Abul Kashem, 24. Kaptai Upazila Parishad Chairman Dilder Hossain and OC of Kaptai Police Station Belayet Hossain confirmed the incident.
Police said the elephants attacked the victims on Saturday night while they were returning home. Police rescued them in a critical condition with the help of locals and admitted them to the local hospitals. Wild elephants killed at least five persons at Kaptai and Langadu Upazila in the last two weeks, police sources said.
