One gets life for killing wife

SYLHET, May 21 (UNB): A court sentenced on Wednesday a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2009.
The convict was identified as Kawsar Ahmed (30), son of Mokhlesur Rahman, a resident of Barochatul village in Kanaighat upazila.
The court also fined him Tk 0.1 million (1.0 lakh), In default of which, he is to suffer one year more in jail.
According to the prosecution, Kawsar strangulated his wife Rojina Begum (22), daughter of Abdul Baten, a resident of Sundisail village in Golapganj upazila, to death following a family feud on August 30, 2009.
Later, Abdul Baten, father of the deceased, filed a case against Kawsar with Kanaighat Police Station.
After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Waliul Islam handed down the verdict.
