One gets life-term for killing woman in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, July 25 (BSS): A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment and three others accused were acquitted for killing a woman of Muksudpur upazila of the district in 2005.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Gopalganj Md. Abbas Uddin delivered the verdict this afternoon.
The convicted was identified as Kamrul Sheikh, 60, son of Md Taiyab Sheikh of Bamanbarua village of Muksudpur upazila. The convicted accused was absconding at the time of the verdict.
According to the details of the case, on the evening of August 12 in 2005, due to a family dispute, Kamrul Sheikh and his associate hacked Manwara Begum and seriously injured her. Later, she was taken to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
The victim's daughter, Josna Akhter, filed a murder case at Muksudpur police station accusing the four people.
After investigating the case, the police filed a report in the court accusing the four, on August 25 in 2012.
The court pronounced the verdict after examining witnesses and the court sentenced Kamrul Sheikh to life imprisonment and fined Taka 0.1 million and acquitted the other three accused in the case.
