One gets life, two 14 yrs\\\' jail for rape

A tribunal in Rajshahi on Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment and two others to 14 years in jail for violating a teenage girl in Matihar Upazila. The lifer was identified as Jasim, 34, hailing from Tangon Purba Para area in Charghat Upazila, while the two who got 14 years' RI were identified as Biplob, 29, son of Talsem Uddin and Monarul, 28, son of Chandu, residents of the same area. The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each. According to the prosecution, the convicts along with two or three accomplices forcibly picked up the victim into a microbus from her house on April 4, 2011, and violated her after taking her to a secluded place. Later, the victim’s father filed a case in this connection on April 8. After examining all records, Judge of Rajshahi Women and Children Repression Prevention Tirbunal-1 handed down the verdict, according to UNB.
