FE Report
Law enforcers early Saturday picked up a young man for interrogation in connection with the killing of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader ABM Faruk, who was gunned down last night.
Hours after the murder, members of Rapid Action Battalion detained the thirty-two year old Shahdath, a restaurant manager, from a house in Manikdi near Dhaka Cantonment, police said.
"He (Shahadath) was not arrested but picked up only for questioning and we're quizzing him," Officer-in-Charge of Cantonment police station Hosne Ara said.
RAB official Maj Sarwar claimed the detainee admitted his involvement in the murder in the preliminary interrogation.
Faruk, president of BCL's Cantonment Thana unit and also head of its Ward 15 unit, was shot dead near Manikdi Adorsho Bidyaniketan, beside Shahdath's restaurant, at around 9:30pm.
Meanwhile, businessmen and shop owners at Manikdi area have kept their shops and businesses closed to protest the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Faruk.
