One held with 105 gold bars in Sylhet airport

Customs intelligence recovered 105 gold bars and arrested a person for his involvement in this incident on Wednesday at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
A total of 105 gold bars weighing 12,180 grams and 4 gold discs weighing 3,730 grams were recovered. The total weight of the recovered gold is 15 kg 910 grams. The estimated market value of the seized gold is approximately Tk163 million, says a press release.
The director general, customs intelligence and investigation directorate received confidential information that a passenger may be involved in gold smuggling through Osmani International Airport on Biman Bangladesh Flight No-BG252 from Sharjah to Sylhet.
When the suspect was identified and questioned after crossing the green channel, he denied.
Later, his baggage was searched and gold bars and silver-plated gold discs were found hidden inside the coffee machine he brought with him.
The process of depositing the seized gold bars and gold discs in the valuable customs warehouse of Sylhet Airport Customs was going on.
