One killed, 30 hurt in clash

BRAHMANBARIA, June 13 (UNB): A man was killed and 30 others were injured in a fierce clash between two groups of people at Urkhulia village in Nabinagar Upazila Friday.
The dead was identified as Safar Ali (35).
Witnesses said the clash erupted in the morning between two groups of people-one led by Hanif Miah and another by Abdul Malek-over establishing supremacy in the area.
Both groups used lethal weapons during the clash that lasted for one hour, leaving Safar Ali dead on the spot and 30 others injured.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control. Four of the injured persons-Abul Kashem, Mizanur Rahman, Nur Mohammad and Farid Miah-were sent to Dhaka in critical condition while others were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
