One killed, 40 hurt in Habiganj clash

HABIGANJ, Aug 2 (UNB): A man was killed and 40 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over land-related dispute in Dighalbak village in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Tota Maih, 55. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
Police and locals said there had been a long standing conflict between one Malek Miah and Bhingraj Miah of the village over the ownership of a piece of land.
Over the issue, the duo locked into an altercation before Jum'a prayers.
Later, men of the two equipped with sharp weapons attacked one another, triggering a fierce clash which left Tota Miah dead and 40 others injured.
